Felix analysis at The Hardball Times
A nice little bit of analysis on the 2007 season of El Cartelua can be found at The Hardball Times.
It has some interesting breakdowns of the King's year by pitch selection and comes up with a nice conclusion or two including:
- Felix relies on his sinker in two strike counts too often.
- Felix has a ridiculously high HR/FB ratio that should "regress to the mean"
- Felix suffers from a ridiculously high BABIP (.338) - see "mean, regression to"
- Felix got great run support last year
So, bad pitch selection combined with some bad luck led to a high ERA (3.92) but with good run support this was still good for 14 wins.
